Demo the Habana Banana CBG

by Col on December 18, 2016

Hey people,
A new build to show you today, this has a lovely bright yellow box, so I called it: The Habana Banana Cigar Box Guitar.

This Cigar Box Guitar has the bottom 3-strings from an extra light set of acoustic string, tuned D-A-D, a Red Grandis, hardwood neck, 23 frets, Mother of Pearl, top fret mark inlays, a bone nut, enclosed tuners, box corners and grommets, all in brass, a double piezo pickup with volume control, a hand made brass tail piece and a bone and hardwood bridge.

Here is a closer look at the box.

Above a quick look at the neck, just before I put the guitar together. This is my first one piece neck, carved out of a single 2″-4″.

You can see my boot print and the slotted neck, in this photo.

Here is a side view of the bridge and tail piece, you can also see the top hat knob for the volume control.

With this tail end view, you can see the jack input, the hand made brass tail piece and the strap button. As I do with all of my builds, I glue a piece of hardwood, inside the box, where the strap button goes, to screw into, so that the side on the box does not bare the weight on the whole guitar, unaided.

A view of the head stock, with a bone nut and brass tuners.

The side profile of the neck, shows the angle of the neck, no need for string trees, with this neck.

with the rear view of the head stock, you can see the enclosed brass tuners and my logo sticker.

With this full side profile of the nick, you can see the Mother of Pearl, top fret marks and get a better understanding of the break angle of the head stock.

As always, the last photo is long Arty look up from the tail end.

And finally a demo video for this build, featuring my song: Restless Train, which is the latest thing that I have written.

If you liked this post, please do share it for me.

Many thanks,
