StumbleCol-Demo-The Black Betty 3 String Cigar Box Guitar

by Col on August 10, 2016

Hi guys,
Here today another new build for your viewing and listening pleasure.

The Black Betty has a hand painted box with a stamp from my right Airware boot on the front with 3 coats of outdoor varnish.
In the UK all cigar boxes come with government health warning stickers, sometimes, no matter how careful you are, you cannot get the stickers off without damaging the labels on the box. I therefore make a range of painted boxes, using wood filler and then sanding back, to hide any tears and to get a smooth surface, to get a clean paint finish.

This Cigar Box Guitar has a painted box, a Red Grandis, hardwood neck with 23 frets, mother of pearl top fret mark in-lays, a bone nut, a bone and hardwood bridge. Box corners, grommets, string trees and enclosed tuners, all in chrome. A double piezo pick-up with volume control and a handmade tail piece.

Above, a look at my boot print and the slotted neck.

This is side view of the handmade tail piece, the bridge and the skull knob for the volume control.

The head stock has enclosed tuners and string trees and a bone nut.

With the back of the head stock, you can see the enclosed tuners and my logo sticker.

Betty Neck

The fret positions are marked on the top of the nick with mother of pearl in-lays.

Here is a closer look at the tail end, with the jack in-put, strap button and handmade tail piece.

The last photo is a long look up from the tail end, very Arty and all that.

Finally here is a demo video for this build, featuring my song Love-Love-Love, which was released on the College Radio Day album 2103 and was the top downloaded track on that album.

Many Thanks,
