StumbleCol-Discography-Wishin` I Was Out Of It!

by Col on December 7, 2011

I am looking at our recordings track by track, to see, where they came from and how they were written and recorded.

Today we do “Wishin` I Was Out Of It”, track 8 on our first album “Smutbots Room”.

ComScore

I wrote this one when I had just split up with a girl friend, for her, it was over for me it was not! I do not take rejection well!!!
Really it came about though, because I wanted to get “The Evil Dead” in to the lyrics of a song!

Col-Lead Vocals, 12 String Acoustic Guitar, Harmonica and Stomp Box.

Tom-6 String Cigar Box Resonator Guitar and Backing Vocals.

Lyrics
Last time I saw her,
not a work was said.
Her eyes were sunken and glazed,
something like “The Evil Dead”.
Her Mother Swanned around,
going on about some old shit,
and all I could think was,
I wish that I was out of it.

When the car drove away,
I left the box there on the street,
for my possessions
were memories that i don`t need.
I was hungry,
but I did not want to eat,
and all I could think was,
I wish that I was out of it.

When I look back now,
I see the mess I`ve made.
I spoiled every gift that you gave.
See my dreams,
they`re strewn along the wayside.

This morning another red bill,
landed on my Welcome Mat.
Then some guys I owe money,
popped round for a chat.
I saw them coming,
so I went and hid.
Standing in the shadows,
Wishin` I was out of it!

If I don`t pay my debts,
they`re gonna break my face.
Those of you who know my kind,
know that it`s too late.
For more than half my life,
I have lived this way,
and now
it`s far too late, to change,
Wishin` I was out of it,
but it`s far too late to change,
Wishin` I was out of it,
Wishin` I was out of it,
but it`s far too late to change,
Wishin` I was out of it,
Wishin` I was out of it,
