The Ramon Allones 3-String Cigar Box Guitar

by Col on February 25, 2017

Hey people,
A new build to show you today.

This 3-string, through neck, Cigar Box Guitar has a Ramon Allones box, a Red Grandis, hardwood neck, 22 frets, Mother of Pearl top fret mark inlays, a bone nut and saddle, enclosed tuners, box corners and grommets, in brass. A double Piezo pickup with volume control and hand made, brass tail piece.

Here is a better look at the box.

Above is a closer look at the slotted neck, which slides onto the box, to hide the join, you can also see my right boot print.

This photo shows the side view of the bone saddle and hand made tail piece + the top hat volume knob.

The one piece, through neck is made of Red Grandis, a sustainable and farmed, eucalyptus variety, it has 22 frets and Mother of Pearl top fret mark inlays.

The head stock has brass coloured tuners and a bone nut.

With the rear of the head stock, you can see the enclosed tuners and my logo sticker.

Here is the tail end, you can see the jack in-put and the hand made tail piece + the strap button, I always glue a piece of hardwood under the strap button, to screw into, this way the wall of the box does not bare the weight of the guitar, unaided.

The last photo is long look up from the tail end.

Finally here is a demo for this build, featuring my version of Last Train To Clarksville, you can play this with one finger and only the middle string and only 3 slide positions, check it out!

If you enjoyed this post please share it for me.

Many Thanks,
